Publisher also helps fund final development of crowdfunded retro platformer
Growing games publisher THQ Nordic has added another property to its portfolio: ’90s-style action platformer Rad Rodgers.
The title is the brainchild of Slipgate Studios, previously known as Interceptor Entertainment, and harks back to the structure of early platformers such as Commander Keen and Ruff ‘n’ Tumble. It has been developed in the style of Apogee’s classic games and with support from 3D Realms.
The game will now be published by THQ Nordic for PS4 and Xbox One, with the publisher taking control of the IP. The company was previously known as Nordic Games until it rebranded last year to revive the defunct publisher’s name. It has spent the past few years acquiring various IP, primarily from the previous THQ’s portfolio such as Darksiders, Red Faction, Titan Quest and De Blob.
Rad Rodgers generated $81,961 through its Kickstarter campaign and THQ Nordic has signed an additional deal with Slipgate to “complete development” of the game, which suggests the publisher will provide additional funding.
